When it rains, it pours...

So now that my mother is back in Indiana from her trip to Alaska I can share how my trip from Louisiana ended! 6 Hours before we board our plane to fly home I receive a text message from my brother's girl friend saying Colin went to the ER because of stomach pain. When I talked with her on the phone they didn't know what it was but was pretty sure it was his appendix. I felt so helpless. My dad was at work, my mother was on a boat somewhere off the coast of Alaska, and I was in Louisiana. Supposedly Colin was handling it really well, laughing and enjoying the pain meds. I on the other hand was panicking. I took on the anxiety of both my mother and myself. Well it turned out that he needed emergency surgery, and had a Appendicitis. Luckily my aunt lives in town, and was there with him, and when my dad got of work he too went to the hospital. When we arrived in Indiana we went directly to the hospital. I wanted to baby him, but also play it cool in case he was anxious about it. Well of course I had to document it, he is never going to get his appendix out again! :)
Well we all decided that we wouldn't tell mom about it until she got back home. Because knowing her, and as any mother would do, she would try to come home immediately even though Colin was ok. So the plan was set, not to tell mom even when she called to check in.

You can't tell but he is now one organ short!
Well we thought that was enough drama, but the next day we got another dose.
Ryan was getting ready in the bathroom, and I was in the kitchen. When I walked back into the bedroom, I saw Tylenol PM pills all over the floor. I freaked out, but didn't believe that Haylee would eat any of them, they were large. When I go to put back the pills I notice that another container of pills is completely empty. That's when i really panic. I looked everywhere but did not find the pills. I decided that I would watch her and see if her behavior changes and then contact the doctor. Within 30 min's her eyes got very heavy, and even though it was close to her nap time and sometimes acts like that, I just knew in my heart something was wrong. I contacted poison control, and they sent me to the ER. Ryan came from work so he could be with us. Haylee doesn't like doctor's to begin with, but when they attempted to put 5 different monitors on her, and then put in an IV she was done! In fact that is what she kept yelling, "ALL DONE, ALL DONE!!" It took 4 adults to hold her down, she was just so strong. In hopes to settle her down, they gave her some Ativan, well even that didn't work. She was just really agitated, and very scared. It absolutely riped my heart out. They found all the medication in her system, but luckily it was in low doses, and they did the blood test later and found it was fine to let her go without treatment.
She was pretty loopy for two days. She wouldn't sleep, she was still really agitated. She would talk non-stop, and the things she said did not make sense. It was a terrible experience. And just in case you were wondering, the pills were in "child-proof" containers. So it's obvious they are not Haylee proof. Very scary, however we were very lucky.
We also waited to tell my mom about Haylee until she got back in the US. Colin and I are both very close to our mother, so it was very hard for us to not tell her what was going on. Though she was upset that we didn't tell her when it was happening, I think deep down she agrees that it was the best thing to do.
So it seems my mother may not go on vacation again without us!!

So glad Colin and Haylee (and all the rest of you!) are ok. I'll be praying God puts drama far away from you guys, at least for awhile - you've certainly had enough recently!
